Archery
The Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club (MBSC) welcomes archery enthusiasts of all ages
who are interested in the sport of archery. We host one of the largest indoor
archery ranges in New England and an excellent 30 station outdoor 3D range.
Our archery ranges are open to club members, their guests and the
general public Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm. Station # 1 of our outdoor
3D archery range is open daily and on weekend for those archers who wish to
practice their 3D skills with either field tips or broad heads.
Our scheduled 3D shoots for
2008 have been completed. As soon as our 20093D Shoot dates are set, we
will post them. We want to extend our thanks to all the archers who have
made this year's 3D Shoots successful and we invite all to come to the club
Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm to shoot in our newly refurbished indoor
archery range. The new Archery Range Shop will be open on
Thursdays as well!

Archery Facilities and Activities
Indoor Archery Facilities
MBSC has two archery ranges: an indoor range and a 30
station 3D outdoor course.
Our 40 ft by 120 ft archery building houses the
indoor archery range (see picture below). Completed in 2007, the new
indoor archery range boasts 17 individual target butts capable of accommodating up to 34 shooters.
We also offer multiple mobile 3D targets. Our indoor range meets
or exceeds NFAA standards. Our indoor target butts may be shot from distances
ranging 20 to 30 + yards.
The indoor range is open to all members and their accompanied
guests 7 days per week for practice. Field tips/target points only. No
alcohol or its consumption is permitted on or within our ranges. Safety and the
enjoyment of our member archers and their guests is our paramount concern.
Thursday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm the indoor range is open to
members and the general public. A nominal $1 fee is charged for member use and $2 for non
members. Youths under the age of 16 shoot for free.
The archery range rules are posted inside the
indoor archery range.
Outdoor Archery Facilities
Our outdoor 3D archery range hosts 30 individual stations and
follows a winding and attractive course within the Club’s 60 acre property. The
3D course is staffed with a wide range of North American, African and exotic 3D
targets just prior to league shoots.
However, at Station #1 (adjacent to the archery building), there
are a half dozen or more 3D targets which are available for target practice 7
days per week at no charge (daylight hours only). There are no outdoor lights,
so shooting is limited to daylight hours.
Many members enjoy walking their pets along our 3D course as it
is an enjoyable and well marked trail in the woods. It is common to see deer
and wild turkey while on the 3D trail. Take a hike even if you don’t shoot!
Archery League and
Events
The MBSC is a proud member of the
Tri-County 3-D Archery League. The Tri-County
League is centered in southeastern Massachusetts and involves approximately 12 sportsman’s clubs. Each club hosts 3 to 4 events per year. League shoots are
held from Janu ary to October.
The shoots are conducted only on Sunday mornings. IBO rules apply.
Club league events are held rain, sleet or shine on our outdoor 30 station 3D
range. The indoor archery range is generally open for practice during all league
shoots.
Entry fees for league shoots are 10 for adults, $5 for youth (11-15), and cubs
(age 10 and under) shoot for
free.
For all scheduled league shoots, the MBSC kitchen (adjacent to the archery
building and inside the main clubhouse) is open and serves a wonderful country
breakfast and lunch.
Our scheduled 3D shoots for 2008 will be held on the following dates:
February 17, May 18, August 31
Youth Archery Development
We are in the process of establishing Junior Olympic Archery
Development Club (JOAD). JOAD is about youth character and archery skill
development. More information on this subject will be posted in the very near
future.
Archery Instruction
MBSC will be conducting classes for anyone interested in learning
more about archery beginning in April 08’. Adults and children are welcome to
attend for a nominal charge of $2.00 pp. This program will be conducted the
first and third Sunday of every month from 9 am until noon, unless we are
hosting an event. Instruction is provided by a certified USA Archery
Instructor. We will provide the equipment and instruction.
Archery Equipment Donations
We welcome all donations of new or used archery equipment. If
you would like to make a donation youth archery development program, please
contact Dave Coles, Archery Range Officer, at
508-743-7913 or Allen Newell, Archery Committee Member at
508-322-0579.
Archery Equipment Shop
Future plans include constructing an archery equipment shop
within our
indoor archery range. This shop will contain a variety of archery
equipment tool sets to enable members to maintain and tune their bows and
related archery equipment.
