Any person may become a member of the MBSC, if accepted, by completing an application form with the signature of a sponsor; who must be a “member in good standing”. If the applicant is approved by the membership committee the application is required to be read before one meeting of the Board of Directors and two general assembly meetings. At the second general assembly meeting, a vote is taken on the application.   Once the application has been accepted and the dues have been paid, you are considered a member. The member must participate in the Internship Program within the first 12 months of membership before being recognized as a ‘member in good standing’. More information on the process and procedure may be found in the clubs Bylaws.

Rules and Regulations- Membership

Adopted April 1994

Revision August 2006

As of March 2005 all New Members shall be required to participate in the MBSC Internship Program

All club rights and privileges shall be extended to new members during their Internship year.

Internship Program

MBSC is a sportsman's club founded on work ethic, sportsmanship, and a strong spirit of volunteerism. New members upon initial acceptance into the club (on the night they are voted) shall be enrolled in the MBSC Internship Program and will be assigned to one of three working committees for a period of (12) months with a (12) hour minimum of volunteer service required. These committees are: Kitchen, Buildings & Grounds, and Bar/Entertainment, each headed by a manager.

New members will rotate between the three committees during this (12) month period which offers a great opportunity to meet other long standing members, gives you a chance to become more familiar with the inner-workings of the club, and offers MBSC members in good standing an opportunity to get to know you, our newest members. During the Internship Program period new members shall have full access to the MBSC facilities.

On the (12) month anniversary date of a new member’s Internship Program, those names will be presented to the BOD by the Membership and/or Executive Secretaries where they will be reviewed for final approval as members in good standing with the MBSC. We understand there may be individuals with limited capabilities or extenuating circumstances that would prevent strenuous types of labor due to a variety of circumstances and would like to ensure our newest members that this will be taken into account on a fair, equitable, and case-by-case basis. The MBSC welcomes those that want to assist the club and does not tolerate discrimination.

We hope that our new members will enjoy the Internship Program and will take advantage of what it has to offer, and that you will continue this spirit of volunteerism and sportsmanship after completion of the program - because the needs of the MBSC don’t stop there! The club has 250+ members and 62 acres; has 4 main facilities and various outdoor shooting ranges for Archery, Rifle, Pistol, & Black Powder so there is always something that requires attention.

We look forward to getting to know you, our newest members, and hope you'll enjoy getting to know us and what the club stands for. The three main committee managers set club priorities by working with other C\committee heads and the BOD. They will contact you regarding their respective work parties and will set their own schedules. When available, notices for work parties will also be published in the monthly newsletter and on the website. We look forward to getting to know you, and hope you will enjoy the Internship Program en route to becoming a member in good standing.

 Membership Types

There are five types of memberships in the MBSC: Regular, Spousal, Senior, Life, and Honorary. The conditions and fees associated with these membership types are as follows.

Regular Membership

Any applicant for Regular membership in the MBSC must be 18 years of age. Upon acceptance into the MBSC via the voting procedures as outlined in Article (6), Section (2) of the bylaws, a Regular Member must be a member in good standing before he/she may sponsor an applicant.

Cost of membership for Regular Members: One time Initiation Fee of $200, Annual dues of $150.

Spousal membership

The legal spouse of a Regular, Life or Senior Member may become a Spousal Member upon application and approval of the BOD, along with payment of the current annual dues.

Spousal Members shall have no voting rights, shall not hold an elected position, sponsor anyone for membership, and shall have no vested interests or other rights in the MBSC. Separation of family status (i.e., divorce) shall nullify the Spousal Membership status. A Spousal Member may become a Regular Member by going through the voting procedures as outlined in Article (6), Section (2); and by paying the Initiation Fee. Upon the death of the Regular Member, the Spousal Member may become a Regular Member as previously outlined provided that action is taken prior to the expiration of the current membership.

Annual dues of $150

Senior Membership

Any Regular Member who attains the age of 70 years and who has been a member in good standing for (5) years shall become a Senior Member.

Annual Dues $50.00

Dues

Annual Dues shall be required of all members except Honorary & Founding Members (Planks), payable by April (1) for the following year; the amount to be determined by the BOD. Any member whose Dues are delinquent April (1) shall have 30 days grace for payment - plus a 10 % surcharge for late fee. If Dues plus surcharge are delinquent after the thirty (30) day grace period, the DNP (Delinquent No-Pay) Member shall be dropped from the membership roster and must re-apply as a New Member. Any member desiring to be disconnected for a period of one (1) year or more may place the MBSC in receipt of a letter of withdrawal. This letter shall allow the member to be reinstated by paying the Annual Dues for the current year, and by a ballot of those present at any General Assembly Meeting. In this instance, re-payment of the Initiation is not warranted. If the MBSC is not in receipt of a letter of withdrawal from a member disconnected over 30 days without payment of Dues, the member shall apply for membership as a New Member, and shall pay both the Initiation Fee and the Annual dues. Any new member who fails to complete their required 12 hour internship within their first 12 month will be removed from the membership roll with no monies refunded. Addendum II : Dues shall be paid in full by any member joining or re-joining the club from April 1- Dec. 31. Members joining after Dec. 31 through March 31 shall pay pro- rated dues equal to ½ of the full dues fee.

Welcome New Members!

Welcome to all new members of the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club. This website has been designed to assist new members in becoming familiar with the club’s primary rules and regulations. But above all - to assist you in learning how to become involved in the many interesting activities the club has to offer.

This website includes a copy of the club’s bylaws, Range Rules for all of our respective ranges, a current listing of the BOD and Executive Board Members, duties and responsibilities of Club Officers, and an explanation of the requirements of the Internship Program for new members.

Our Officers and Committee Heads are very willing to offer assistance to all members to help them become more involved with the club. The MBSC has become what it is today through hard work and volunteer spirit of dedicated members who continue to contribute time and effort to create what we all now enjoy. Hopefully, all of our new members will take advantage of the opportunity to get to know other fellow members and develop friendships that so many of us have enjoyed.

One of the best resources for finding out what’s happening around the club is the club’s newsletter the “MBSC Gazette” where club business as well as local & regional sporting information is updated monthly and sent to each member as part of the club’s service to its membership.

Reading the monthly newsletter is one of the best ways to keep track of what the club is doing – except for attending the monthly General Assembly Meetings which are held on the last Wednesday of each month where members can partake of a hearty home cooked meal, imbibe in a cool beverage of choice ‘at a reasonable rate’, and where you get the same information you’ll get in the newsletter- with a little social activity for good measure! Attending meetings and member volunteerism are two integral parts of MBSC. We depend on the volunteer efforts of our members to run the club. Please support your club by attending the General Assembly Meetings. Board of Director meetings are open to all members. Please refer to our calendar for a schedule of events.

Congratulations on becoming a member of the Monument Beach Sportsman’s Club. Remember - any club is only as good as the people that belong and contribute.
